Why do we need a center like Lee´s Place?
Lee´s Place recognizes that experiencing the death of a loved one, going through a divorce, or being abandoned by people you love, profoundly affects the lives of children and adults. Our society tends to overlook or minimize the impact that these experiences can have on the lives of loved ones. Unresolved grief in children and youth can develop into depression, rage, antisocial behaviors, physical ailments and self-destructive behaviors, (e.g., alcohol and drug abuse, eating disorders, risk-taking). In adults, it often results in lower work productivity and attendance, depression and/or anxiety, reduced ability to focus and an increase in physical ailments. Lee´s Place offers a nurturing environment with licensed therapists where intense and overwhelming feelings of loss can be expressed and dealt with in a safe and healing manner.
