Our Mission
It is the mission of Lee's Place to provide counseling and educational services to those who are adjusting to a loss, whether the loss is a death, a divorce or abandonment.
Founded in 2000 by Dr. Brenda Rabalais, Lee's Place is named in memory of her son Lee, who died at the age of 14. In her healing process, Dr. Rabalais created a center where people can receive therapeutic services in a warm, nurturing environment regardless of their ability to pay. Although the genesis of Lee's Place is the death of a child, we address the broad spectrum of loss, including divorce, abandonment (foster care children and adoptees), life transitions and death. Additionally, the staff at Lee's Place provides education to schools, community groups and professional organizations on a variety of loss issues and coping strategies.
The intention of this website is to allow you to learn more about the services offered at Lee's Place and also provide you with resources and materials related to various types of loss. It will also give you ways to get involved with our organization whether it be through volunteering your time or making a contribution.
What's New
We Won An Award!
Lee's Place has been selected for the 2008 Best of Tallahassee Award in the Counseling Services category by the United States Local Business Association (USLBA)! The USLBA recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country that they enhance the image of their community through service to their customers and the community itself.

We're Expanding!
With the constant growth of our clientele, it was inevitable that we would have to expand one day. Well that day is here! The architect has already drawn up the plans. Our expansion will transform the existing garage into a new development office, and create a handicap accessible bathroom and therapy room. The therapy room will have a state-of-the-art one-way mirror for teaching student interns and assisting parents with learning new ways to support their children.
