It is the mission of Lee's Place to provide counseling and educational services to those who are adjusting to a loss, whether the loss is a death, a divorce or abandonment.
Founded in 2000 by Dr. Brenda Rabalais, Lee's Place is named in memory of her son Lee, who died at the age of 14. In her healing process, Dr. Rabalais created a center where people can receive therapeutic services in a warm, nurturing environment regardless of their ability to pay. Although the genesis of Lee's Place is the death of a child, we address the broad spectrum of loss, including divorce, abandonment (foster care children and adoptees), life transitions and death. Additionally, the staff at Lee's Place provides education to schools, community groups and professional organizations on a variety of loss issues and coping strategies.
The intention of this website is to allow you to learn more about the services offered at Lee's Place and also provide you with resources and materials related to various types of loss. It will also give you ways to get involved with our organization whether it be through volunteering your time or making a contribution.
What's New?
We received funding for our Lee's Place video! Thanks so much to The Martin Foundation and RAM Construction, we will now begin creating our informational video! It will introduce and describe our services, present client testimonials and give the audience an overall feel for what we do at Lee's Place. This video will be used at all of our workshops, seminars and general speaking engagements as an educational tool to better facilitate a true understanding of what we do at Lee's Place.
Come join us on August 8th at the Downtown Marketplace. Lee's Place will be there from 9 am to 3 pm with our cookbooks, brochures, and volunteers to answer any questions you may have! Come out, bring your kids, and enjoy the music, food, arts and crafts! Be sure to stop by our table and say hello!
